Fans of Drake, Sully, Elena, and Chloe will be disappointed to hear that the Uncharted series may be over, now that Naughty Dog has moved on to The Last of Us. A video from Naughty Dog’s Judd Simantov shows the techniques he used in modeling and rigging the game’s primary characters, but also mentions that the Uncharted is over. At the 14:20 into the video, Simantov says “Now that the Uncharted series is over, we had the opportunity to re-evaluate certain things.”
The first two Uncharted games are turning into digital downloads on the PlayStation Store later next month. Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (Game of the Year Edition) will land on the PlayStation Store in the downloadable PS3 game section on June 26th.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is around 2 months away from release, and what better way to get caught up with the series than to play Nathan Drake’s first two adventures – Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. If you haven’t played the first two titles, you will soon be able to get them in a new Greatest Hits Dual Pack, out next week.
Today, the Mall in PlayStation Home will be updated with lots of new content. In addition, lots of existing items will go on sale in a the brand new Exclusives store. Uncharted fans can pick up costumes for Nathan Drake, Sully, Chloe Frazier, Elena Fisher, and Tetram in addition to treasure for your personal space.
The first episode of Uncharted: Eye of Indra is now available to download from the PlayStation Store, and its free! Eye of Indra is a four part motion comicand the original prequel store to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. A Motion Comic is essentially an animated comic book – you watch it like a movie. Characters move, there’s some 3D effects, and cool panel transitions. Eye of Indra has actually been over a year in the making and was only recently announced by Naughty Dog.
If you are unfamiliar with the story of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune but want to play Among Thieves, Naughty Dog has released a motion comic to fill you in on the action. The motion comic will be available in four parts, of which, we have a trailer of the first episode below. The Uncharted Motion Comics’ first episode goes live on PSN later today, and the complete set of four will be available by the end of November. The individual price for each episode has yet to be confirmed but you can purchase all four episode for $2.49.
Naughty Dog are releasing a prequel to the original Uncharted, as a motion comic. The announce was made during a live chat on the PlayStation website by Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog, “We have an exclusive announcement! We’re releasing a prequel story to Uncharted 1 as a motion comic voiced by your favorite actors from the two games. Stay tuned for more info.”
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has officially gone gold in North America, which means development on the game is complete. That means only 32 days until it hits store shelves. If you can’t wait for the game to come out, pre-order the game and get exclusive access to the multiplayer beta which is scheduled to start later this month.
