Sony is expected officially reveal the PS5 and the new DualShock 5 controller next year, with a late 2020 launch date. However, recent rumours suggest that the console will be launching on 20th November 2020, just ahead of Christmas and roughly 25 years after the launch of the original PlayStation.

A leaked marketing email, originally posted on the 4chan message board, suggests that Sony will be revealing the PS5 early next year. The event will be called PlayStation Meeting 2020, and will be held on 12th February 2020.

Recent reports have suggested that Sony are preparing to release functionality that will finally allow people to change their PSN name. According to Kotaku, three separate developers have said they are updating their games to support the upcoming feature, but no timescales were given.

A rumour is currently doing the rounds suggesting that PlayStation Now will allow it’s on-demand games to be downloaded and played offline. An industry source was able to confirm to Kotaku UK that the functionality is due to roll out in late September this year.

A Target employee in the US as leaked a photo of a 1 TB PS4 Slim console in Gold via reddit, complete with gold DualShock 4 controller. The new model has yet to be announced by Sony, but Eurogamer has backed-up the rumour, claiming the “images are genuine”.

Photos of the PS4 Slim have appeared on Gumtree (and later removed) selling for £295, showing a smaller version of the current 500GB PS4 model. The unannounced model is expected to replace the current standard PS4 model according to the Wall Steet Journal, who have spoken to “people familiar with the matter”. WSJ says that the new PS4 model will be revealed at the PlayStation Meeting on September 7th 2016.
Rumor Alert: No Man’s Sky Delayed

A report from Kotaku last night reports that one of this year’s anticipated games, No Man’s Sky, has been delayed. The game, which will be releasing on PS4 and PC, was expected to release on 22nd June 2016, but two sources have told Kotaku that the game has been delayed with no new release date.
PS4K Specs Revealed, Codenamed “Neo”

More details about the rumoured PS4 hardware revision, known as the PS4K, have been revealed by “multiple sources” according to Giantbomb, and confirmed by Digital Foundry. The new information reveals the hardware that will power the new console, and the console’s codename: Neo – another reference to The Matrix (see: Project Morpheus).
