After spending weeks on top of the UK Chart, Call of Duty: Black Ops II has finally lost its top spot to Far Cry 3. After spending many week in the top 10, Far Cry 3 finally managed to beat off the competition and claim biggest-selling title for the last week of 2012. In fact, Black Ops II has dropped to third place, with FIFA 13 climbing to second position.
Just before the New Year, the US PlayStation Store was updated one last time with new content for gamers. In particular, PlayStation Plus subscribers are able to download two new titles added to the Instant Game Collection: NBA JAM On Fire for the PS3 and Chronovolt for the PS Vita.
New content is available on the North American PlayStation Store this week, including new games added to the PlayStation Plus Instant Game Collection. New DLC, themes and game videos have also been added to the store this week, which is also the last update for 2012.
Lots of discounted titles are available on the US PlayStation Store this week, with up to 50% off many titles. New PlayStation Plus content has also been added to the store, adding Retro City Rampage to the Instant Game Collection. New DLC and PS3 themes have also been added to the Store.
Call of Duty: Black Ops II has continued selling well right through Christmas, staying in the top spot for another week. Call of Duty: Black Ops II is officially the number one Christmas game, beating off Far Cry 3 and Hitman: Absolution yet again.
Sony has a nice little treat for PlayStation Plus subscribers this Christmas. This week, the store was updated on Monday, since Tuesday was Christmas day, and Plus subscribers got an early Christmas treat as a result: Retro City Rampage. The game is now part of the Instant Game Collection, available for both the PS Vita and PS3.
The 12th and final Deal of Christmas is now available on the PlayStation Store in Europe. The final deal gives gamers over 50% off Far Cry 3, which has been reduced from £59.99/€69.99 to just £24.99/€34.99. The offer is available for the next 48 hours, until midnight on Christmas Eve (December 24th 2012).
2k Games have posted the first five minutes of BioShock Infinite. Needless to say, the video contains spoilers so be warned. The game was recently delayed yet again, so the video sort of makes up for the extra wait. The game is expected to launch on March 26th 2013.
Sony has revealed that January will be a big month for PlayStation Plus subscribers. To get over the festive season, Sony are adding five new titles to the Instant Game Collection – 3 for the PS3 and 2 for the PS Vita – spread over the month.
Earlier this week Sony issues a press release marking another milestone for the PS3. The press release says the PS3 has sold over 30 million units in PAL Territories, which includes Australia, New Zealand and South Africa – since March 2007.
