Sony are experimenting with new techniques to add trophy support to games lacking the feature, according to a new patent filing. The new technique could allow Sony to add trophy support to legacy games, without modifying the game code, but instead by detecting disk access to parts of the game.
God of War: Ascension has sparked an outrage over one particular trophy for promoting misogyny. In a scene in the game, Kratos beats a woman to a bloody pulp, and the player is rewarded with a trophy called “Bros Before Hos”. But the trophy has landed the developers in hot water, and will be patched to something less sexist.
Although Sony didn’t confirm if the PS4 would continue to use the Trophy reward system for games, the PS4’s user interface reveals otherwise. The updated XMB on the PS4 shows that the console will support trophies, and will show your stats directly from the Game Select screen. Two separate screens from the PS4 UI show the existant of trophies.
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale on the PS3 and PS Vita has a massive 55 trophies to unlock, including the coveted platinum trophy, a gold and 8 silver trophies.
The Hitman HD Collection on PlayStation 3 has never been officially confirmed, but it appears that the trophy list for the games have leaked online. The collection includes Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, Hitman 3: Contracts and Hitman: Blood Money. The game was expected to release to release on October 15th, but the date has come and gone and Square-Enix still haven’t announced a PS3 release date.
Last week Sony announced the Killzone Trilogy box set, featuring Killzone 2 and 3 for the PS3, and a remastered version of the original Killzone title, dubbed Killzone HD. In addition to improved graphics, multiplayer and audio overhaul, Killzone HD also features trophies – and we have the full list right here.
Capcom has revealed the trophy list for upcoming PSN title Okami HD. The game will feature the coveted platinum trophy as well as a few hidden ones you’ll have to discover for yourself, but are linked to the story mode. Okami HD will be available this October as a digital download on PSN for $19.99.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception will be getting it’s biggest patch to date later today, updating the game to version v1.13. The patch introduces a whole new multiplayer feature to the game. In addition, new DLC will be available starting August 15th.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is finally getting trophies and we have the trophy list for you to take a look at. When the game first came out in 2008, the trophy system was only just introduced on the PS3. MGS4 just came out of development and so trophies weren’t implemented in time for launch.
