As of PS5 Firmware v21.02-04.00.00, the internal M.2 SSD expansion slot can be used to expand the storage of your console with up to 4 TB of additional space. There are a number of PS5-compatible M.2 drives available (links below), and they only take a few minutes to install.

The launch model of the PS5 and PS5 Digital Editions come with a 825 GB ultra-fast SSD. However, after formatting and system software, the amount of usable space on the SSD is much lower than this. After formatting and converting from base 10 to base 2, the 825 GB hard drive translates to roughly 768.3 GiB of usable space.

The official PS5 teardown revealed the location of the PS5’s M.2 PCIe expansion slot, which is located on the bottom / right panel of the console. If you have a PS5 with disc drive, the SSD slot is on the same side.
