The PS3 has some top titles coming out over the next year and a half. Over 20 PlayStation exclusive titles are scheduled for release on the PS3, PS Vita and PSN over the next 12 months, 12 of which will be released before the end of the year.
Sony’s Press Conference at Gamescom features a number of new announcements and information for both the PS Vita and PS3. Several new titles were announced for both platforms as well as new trailers to previously announced titles. Read our summary of the conference below.
With the Wimbledon finals over the weekend, SCEE has decided to hold a Tennis Sale on the PlayStation Store. Gamers can get up to 50% of two tennis titles – one for the PS3 and one for the PS Vita. These deals are available now and finish on Monday 9th July – so grab them before it’s too late.
Details of a new PS3 model, coded CECH-4000, have been spotted on the FCC website. The diagrams filed with the FCC spotted this morning show the label placement has changed, suggesting the revised console is using a new case. Could this be the new PS3 Slim model Sony is rumoured to be working on?
The rumour yesterday was spot on. Firmware v4.20 is now available to download for the PS3, brining with it a number of changes and fixes. Firstly, the power-save mode has been revised to comply with SCEE regulations, which means that the system will now, as default, be set to automatically turn off after 1 hour of no use.
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has been announced for the PS3 and PS Vita. The game is a thrilling new racing experience, featuring Sonic the Hedgehog and a fantastic cast of SEGA All-Stars. This iconic cast will be competing across land, air and water in vehicles that fully transform from cars, to planes to boats.
Sony has announced that the White PS3 is heading to Europe this morning. The new coloured console will be available in te UK from June 29th 2012, priced at £239.99. The white model will include a 320GB hard drive, two DualShock 3 controllers and 90 days of free PlayStation Plus access. However, GAME has exclusive rights to selling the console.

A new PlayStation 3 advert has appeared, promoting some of the best games the PS3 has to offer, it’s entertainment capabilities, as well reasons to buy the PS3. It also finally points out that online gaming on the PlayStation Network is free.
Sony first announced the Slim PS3 back in August 2009 at German trade show Gamescom. It is 32% smaller, 36% lighter and consumes 34% less power that the previous model. That was three years ago with the PS3 now being 6 years old. Gamescom is just around the corner, so could Sony be planning to release a even thinner PS3 Slim console?
