Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) today announced that the PlayStation 3 will be available for a new lower price. The PS3 with 160GB hard disk drive, currently available at a recommended retail price of £249 will be available at a very attractive new RRP of £199 in the UK.

Some hilarious movies are available on the UK store for as little as £5.99 – download movies directly on to your PS3 or watch them on the go on your PSP – you’d be a fool not to. Warhawk, the online-only third-person shooter, is now available to download for a discounted price of just $14.99 from the US PlayStation Store. In addition, you can also pick up all three expansion packs for an additional $9.99 (or just the ones you need for $4.99 each). It’s been more than two years since the game was first released and there are still lots of players having fun online.
Today, more minis titles have been reduced in price. Some of the best selling titles from the minis category start from just €1.49 / £1.24. Best of all, the minis work on both the PSP and PS3. The price reduction is only effective for a limited time only, ending on March 4th 2010.

PlayStation 3 stocks in the UK have become pretty scarce over the past few weeks. According to Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, there is mounting evidence of a price cut. Speaking in a recent VG247 podcast, Pachter said that Japanese retailers are in a situation similar to the one retailers in the UK are experiencing. The PS3 price cut is widely believed to be made public at GamesCom in Cologne on Tomorrow.
Rumors of the PlayStation 3 Slim are coming even faster now, suggesting something is definitely brewing at Sony. The internet is alight with rumours of a planned €100 (£85) price cut on Sony’s current 80GB PS3 model across Europe to be announced at the same time at the launch of a new PS3 Slim at Germany’s GamesCon event on 18 August. The rumours follow the news that Sony is informing Japanese retailers that the 80GB PS3 model will not be shipping after 8 August.
