Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, has confirmed via twitter that purchasing a game remotely for the PS4 will automatically wake up the console to download the game, and then turn off when completed. Currently, the PS3 needs to be scheduled to wake up at a certain time in order to automatically download queued content.

PS4 & Its New Games To Resurrect The Gaming Industry

The release of the Playstation 4 is getting closer every day now, and for gaming enthusiasts the big day just can’t come soon enough. We’ve heard by now about all of the specs and capabilities of this rather incredible sounding new console, and for Playstation fans these capabilities are reason enough to be excited. Gamescom 2013: Knack Trailer

Sony has released the new gamescom trailer for PS4 launch title Knack, featuring some new characters and details about the game’s story. A demo of the game is available at Gamescom too – the first time it’s been playable at a consumer show. Japan Studio, the developers behind the game, has also revealed that they’re working on a two player “drop in” co-op mode.

Sony kicked off it’s Gamescom Press Conference in an unusual way earlier today, giving the world’s first live demo of the PlayStation 4′ Dynamic Menu. Shuhei Yoshida was in the hot seat showing off just how fluid and responsive the menu is, seamlessly switching between the Dynamic Menu and right into a multiplayer match in Killzone: Shadow Fall.
Gamescom 2013: PS4 Trailer Round-Up

Gamescom 2013: Confirmed PS4 Release Date Revealed

In addition to revealing plenty of PS4 and PS Vita games at Gamescom, Sony has also unveiled the official release date for the PS4 in North America and Europe. The next-gen console will be launching in North America on November 15th 2013, and Europe on November 29th 2013.
Pre-Order Limits for PS4 Now In Force

As mentioned last week, Sony’s pre-order limits for the PS4 are now in force across the UK and Europe, meaning console pre-ordered after August 6th 2013 are no longer guaranteed for launch day. The limit affects retailers mainly in the UK, including Amazon and ShopTo, so if you were smart enough to pre-order your console early, it will arrive for launch day.
PS4 Playable at Eurogamer Expo in September

Eurogamer has confirmed that the PS4 will be playable on the show floor at the annual Eurogamer Expo in London this September. This will be the first chance the UK public has to go hands-on with the console and it’s upcoming games. The show runs from Thursday, September 26th until Sunday, September 29th 2013, but be prepared to big queues as 70,000 people are expected to attend the expo.
Sony Imposing PS4 Pre-Order Limits in the UK

Sony’s upcoming PS4 is in such demand that the company has imposed pre-order limits in the UK so eager fans are not disappointed when the console launches later this year. Speaking to CVG, retail sources have confirmed that orders should be placed “before next week” in order for them to be fulfilled on launch day, meaning an effective pre-order deadline of August 5th if you want your PS4 as soon as possible.
Sony and Panasonic Working on Blu-ray Successor

Sony and Panasonic have announced that they’re working on a new optical disc with the capacity to hold a minimum of 300 gigabytes of content. The work on the new format is expected to be completed before the end of 2015, and will be the successor to the Blu-ray disc, which has a maximum capacity of 50GB in dual-layer format.
