Less than a year after release, Sony will be shutting down the servers for free-to-play title title Kill Strain on the PS4. First released on 12 July 2016, the title appears to have flopped and failed to build up a decent online community. In addition, Sony has announced that other titles will also be losing their online components.
Can you believe it? It’s been two years since ModNation Racers was first launched on PlayStation, but the community is still growing strong. The PlayStation Vita version of the game, Road Trip, has helped keep the success going – just check out the numbers for yourself: 629,972 Tracks, 1,331,405 Mods and 1,221,817 Karts for a total of 3,182,817 creations!
ModNation Racers on the title has finally received an official name from the developers. The PlayStation Vita title will be officially called ModNation Racers: Road Trip. ModNation Racers was shown off at E3 2011 last week, showing how the PS Vita’s unique hardware features make creating a track easy. As mentioned in the Press Conference, this title is not a port of the PSP or PS3, but the title will include all the 2 million plus Mods, Karts and Tracks from the previous titles.
ModNation Racers will be getting a new title, just for the PlayStation Vita. Announced at Sony’s E3 2011 Press Conference, the PlayStation Vita version of the game isn’t a port of the PS3 or PSP versions. It is entirely a new game, making use of the Vita’s unique feature set.
ModNations Racers is not only a Greatest Hits title, it has also achieved a huge milestone since the game was released. The game hit 1 million creations back in August 2010, and it’s taken only six months for users to create another million tracks, karts and mods.
On October 26th, ModNation Racers is getting the first of many track-enhancing part packs. The Stunt Pack is the first of the packs, and each one features a group of new parts to make the already amazing tracks out there even better. Best of all, the first pack is free to download for the next two weeks.
In less than three months since ModNations Racers was released, the online community has created and published over 1.1 million items of content. This means there were roughly 633 karts, mods, and tracks published per hour, which equates to roughly 15,000 creations published per day.
A new patch for ModNation Racers will be released this week, bringing many improvements to the game. The patch will be available to download on August 4th 2010 and will feature improved load times, a new “Casual” difficulty mode, as well as fixing bugs and exploits in the game. United Front Games have been working hard on the next ModNation Racers DLC, which is currently in the final stages of development. The new patch aims to further optimize the load times and also adds the ability to race a friend in the XP races, so you can level up and show-off to your friends at the same time.
