Sony has released a new minor firmware update for the PS4, updating the system software to v8.52. The update is a minor one, with the release notes indicating that the only change is improvements in “system performance”. The update doesn’t contain any new features, and is around 482 MB in size.

PS4 Firmware 8.50 has left the open beta phase and has been released to the public, marking the end of Communities on the console. The update is available to download now, and includes a number of privacy improvements and other features, including Share Play with PS5 owners.

Invites to take part in the PS4 Firmware v8.50 beta are starting to go out to users. PS4 Firmware v8.50 includes a number of bug fixes and improvements to the system, but also marks the end of Communities. The Communities feature was discontinued from the PlayStation App some time ago, and will soon be disabled on the PS4 too.
