The development team over at Harmonix have been listening to the fans of Rock Band 2 and have released a new update to the game. The update, which will be released later today, addresses some common feature requests from fans, using feedback and suggestions. New functionality includes access to the Rock Band store, once launched, and SingStar wireless mic support.
The first PSP Store update for 2010 is finally here. This week, Europe has a number of new downloadable games available for purchase, as well as some new PSOne classics. Two new Minis titles are available and some XMB themes too. Three new downloadable titles are available in the US and a number of free and premium XMB themes. The end of 2009 has given PlayStation 3 sales a huge bump. According to a Sony Press Release, over 3.8 million PlayStation 3 consoles were sold between November 23 to December 28 worldwide. This equates to a 76% increase in hardware sales compared to the same period in the previous year, marking the highest record sales for PS3 hardware for a holiday period. As of January 3rd 2010, a total of over 38 million PlayStation Network accounts have been registered since it’s launch.

The official box art for Gran Turismo 5 has finally been revealed. We can confirm the cover for this year’s must-have title will feature what some motoring journalists are acclaiming as the car of 2010 – the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG. The SLS is due to be officially launched at the Geneva Motorshow in March. A spiritual successor to the 1954 300SL Gullwing, the SLS is every bit as astounding a piece of automotive engineering as the original 300SL was in its heyday.
Gaming has been growing with the female market for several years now. In fact, there number of male to female games are slowly reaching equal numbers. According to Nielsen, around 45% of active gamers are female. Even more surprising is that that PSP is more popular with female gamers, with 52% of owners being female.
A group of hackers over at the haxnetwork are claiming that they have successfully discovered a method that will allow you to boot back-up copies of PS3 Blu-Ray games using MotorStorm. Whether or not the exploit actually work remains to be seen. Naturally, Sony won’t be too happy to see their un-hackable console finally being exploited to run illegal copies of games.
VidZone has hit another major milestone since it was launched back in June 2009. Its taken VidZone exactly five months to rack up another million downloads, bringing the total to over 2 million downloads in total. VidZone is “officially the biggest dedicated music video streaming application in the world”, according to Ben Creasy, Head of Production for VidZone.
