This Friday, Naughty Dog will be releasing the first downloadable content for Uncharted 2‘s multiplayer mode. A patch update will add “The Fort,” a brand new multiplayer map supposedly based on the “Fortress” chapter of Drake’s Fortune. According to the press release, “The Fort is a long rectangular map with wide open spaces and excellent flank routes.” Best of all, the update will be free – a perfect way to end the week.

God of War Collection Coming to Europe in 2010
As you may already know, the God of War Collection is now available in the US but has yet to see a European release. SCEE has now confirmed that the God of War Collection will be hitting Europe in 2010, but not in Q1. Europe has a long wait, but at lease this clears up any speculation regarding the European release. The actual date remains a secret for now, though.
PlayStation Home Gets Updated Tomorrow
This Thursday, PlayStation Home gets updated with a bunch of new content. First and foremost, the next phase of the wildly popular Red Bull Island will be released in PlayStation Home. To complement the existing Red Bull Air Race World Championship mini-game, Red Bull will unleash two brand new spaces that will appeal to sports fans and beach bunnies alike. New events will also be taking place over the next few weeks including one for Fight Night.

In the last update for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, Naughty Dog added a penalty for quitting online matches, deducting $40,000 for leaving a game, whether it was a Internet issue or your system froze. It’s fair if you quit the game deliberately, but for other issues its not. The update has resulted in many users complaining about the new rule, but unfortunately, Naughty Dog are standing their ground.
FreePlay’s PSPgo Exploit Patched By Firmware v6.20
Remember the PSPgo exploit we reported on a while back (see here and here)? Unfortunately, the exploit has now been patched in the latest Firmware update from Sony. FreePlay has revealed that the exploit used a gamesave exploit in Archer Maclean’s Mercury. If you still have Firmware 6.10 installed and own a copy of Mercury, you can still make use of the exploit.
PlayStation Network Premium Subscription Details
Last week, we reported that Sony will be starting subscription access to the PlayStation Network but core services will remain free. Kaz Hirai has confirmed that premium access will be added on top of the current services for the PS3 and PSP. Sony is planning a two-tiered subscription model for the PlayStation Network similar to – but also fundamentally different from – Xbox Live. Kaz has confirmed that online gameplay will remain free as will access to all the services the PlayStation Network currently provides.
Sonic Costumes Coming to LittleBigPlanet
Sega and Sony are working together to bring Sonic into the PlayStation 3 version of LittleBigPlanet. In December, five Sonic the Hedgehog costumes will be available to download via the PlayStation Store. You can get Sonic, Sonic the Werehog, Tails, Dr. Eggman, and Knuckles as individual costumes or together in one pack.
Firmware 3.10 Allows You to Send Crash Reports to Sony
Firmware 3.10 has added a useful feature which should have been included some time ago. If your console crashes or restarts for no apparent reason, you can now send a error report to Sony. The report includes your PSN account information, your email address and details of any content that was being used during the time of the problem.
PS3s Will Support 3D Games Via Firmware Update
In a presentation detailing Sony’s plans to become profitable by the end of 2010, Sony revealed plans to upgrade PlayStation 3 consoles with full 3D support. 3D support for the PS3 has been taked about a lot over the past several months, starting earlier this year at CES 2009. Sony’s presentation indicates that all PS3 units will be upgraded to support 3D games via a firmware update.
