There has been some new rumors circulating the Internet concerning PlayStation Home. According to forum member shadowman540 over at the US PlayStation Forums, a recent advert advertises Home and Pain on the PlayStation Store. Since both the icons are present under the “Featured” section and are the first two icons in the Store, we can only speculate that both games are part of the same PlayStation Store update.

Sony refuses to repair dusty PS3 under warranty
Sony have refused to repair a broken PlayStation 3 on the basis that is was too dusty, but later admitted that dust does not void your warranty. So, what’s going on here? According to one Sony customer service representative, the warranty is only voided if the console "was neglected, abused, dropped or anything like, modification like if you opened it up." Sony said that repairing the console posed a risk to the technician, and demanded a $150 out-of-warranty charge to repair the console.
Check out the images below. Do you think the PlayStation 3 is too dusty to be repaired? Seriously, would you let your precious PS3 get this dusty in the first place? In our opinion, this console does look neglected. Let us know what you think using the comment section below.

Using your PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Eye as a remote surveillance device
Did you know that using remote start you can use your PlayStation 3 and a PSP to set up a 1-room surveillance device? If you are curious as to what happens in your room when you are out, here is a clever little trick to make use of your PS3 and PSP to “spy” on your room when you are away from home. Here is what you will need:
- PlayStation 3 with Firmware 2.00 or higher
- PSP with Firmware 3.72 or higher
- PlayStation Eye (or Eye Toy)
- Internet Connection
Before you begin, make sure you have all of the above. Your PS3 needs to have firmware 2.00 or higher or Remote Start will not work. Your PSP needs firmware 3.72 or higher or you will not be able to turn on or off your PS3 via the Internet. A PlayStation Eye or Eye Toy is required to act as a camera. It is recommended that you have the PlayStation Eye since the video quality will be better and also you will be able to listen to what is going on.
Preparation:
Please complete the following tasks before continuing:
- Make sure you have registered your PSP with your PS3 (this is required for Remote Play). [See Guide]
- Register your camera device with your PS3
- Enable Remote Start on your PS3 and turn off your console [See FAQ]
- Ensure your Internet Connection is active to both your PS3 and PSP
Instructions:
- Go to [Remote Play] on your PSP, located under [Network]
- Select [Connect via Internet] if you are away from home, or [Connect via Private Network] is you are home but not in your room.
- Select the Wi-Fi connection you wish to connect using. If you are away from home, the connection must have Internet Access.
- Sign-in with your PlayStation Network ID and password to access your system. If all goes according to plan, your PS3 should start and enter Remote Play mode. After a few seconds, you will see the PS3 XMB on your PSP.
- Go to [Friends] and select [Start New Chat] to start a new conversation.
- On the Chat screen, go to [Chat Settings] and select [Camera On] to activate the camera connected to your PS3.
- If you camera is connected correctly, you should see something on the screen. On screen, you should be able to see who (if anyone) is in your room. If you have the PlayStation Eye and have configured it correctly, you should also be able to hear what is going on in the room.
- When you are done, you can press the HOME button to turn off the PS3. When you want to connect again, simply repeat the process again.
We suggest you use this tutorial appropriately, which means no spying on naked girls!

DualShock 3 now available in Japan
The DualShock 3 controller for the PlayStation 3 is now available to purchase in Japan. The new controller runs on the old rumble technology found in the PlayStation 2’s DualShock 2 controller, but features the motion sensing technology found in the SIXAXIS controller. The controllers are available in standard black and ceramic white. Unfortunately for European and US PS3 owners, the DualShock 3 controller will not be released until Spring 2008, but if you can’t wait that long you can always import a Japanese version.
The controller will work with US and European consoles should you decide to import. The DualShock 3 controller is wireless just like the SIXAXIS controller and can be recharged using a USB cable. Resistance: FoM Map Pack 2 details
Insomniac is continuing to support the launch title, Resistance: Fall of Man, by releasing another map pack. The game has already recieved a map pack some time back, and a new patch recently became available. Now, Insomniac are ready to release the second set of maps for the game sometime before the end of this month. The two new maps are Bracknell and Axbridge.
Bracknell – A foreboding Chimeran node and Widowmaker breeding ground serve as eerie backdrops to this dark, all-interior environment loosely based on the Resistance single-player level. Players will fight in huge, cavernous spaces, where Chimeran architecture has overtaken an abandoned railway system. Bracknell is designed for both vertical and close-quarters combat, so polish those shotguns and Augers.
Axbridge – Axbridge has the perfect blend of frantic close quarters combat and concealed sniping perches. This map was created specifically for online multiplayer gameplay and not based on any Resistance single-player environment. It features a narrow corridor stretching under and above ground leading to two human bases on either side. The bases are large structures in their own right. Each contains several rooms and expansive fighting spaces.
