On Saturday PlayStation Vita launched in Japan. While it’s customary for shops to open at midnight here in Europe and Australasia, in Japan the stores open just an hour or so early and shoppers queue through the early hours of the morning. Check out some of the photo taken through the launch below.
Sony have confirmed that the first set of 3D games for the PlayStation 3 will be available June 2010. In addition, the 3D firmware update for the console will also be released in June, though the exact release date is yet to be announced. To mark the occasion, Sony will be giving away 3D games and Blu-ray videos along with the HX800 3DTV, Sony’s first consumer TV set.
The first episode of FirstPlay will be available to download next week from the PlayStation Store. The final phase of the beta was recently announced and will be starting sometime this week, prior to the general public release. New episodes will be released weekly costing 99p each. However, gamers can purchase three-month subscriptions for £8.99, consisting of 13 episodes per quarter.
Sony has launched a new section called Share on the PlayStation.Blog which will enable users to post their own ideas on how Sony can improve the PlayStation experience. Users can also vote on suggestions made by others, after which the most popular ideas would be considered for implementation by Sony!
After much delay, SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo 3 has finally gone gold in North America and is off to manufacturing. You’ll be able to pick up the third iteration to the Fireteam Bravo series from shops and via the PlayStation Network from February 16. Earlier today, the Digital Comics Service launched in UK, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa! You can choose your favourite comics from hundreds of new and classic collections in Comic Store of PlayStation Store, and take hundreds of comics on your PSP anywhere you go. Choose from the battling superheroes of Marvel, including Spider-man, X-Men and the Fantastic Four, to Disney’s Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
It’s official folks! The European PlayStation Video Store will be launching in France, Germany, Spain and the UK soon. Sony is holding a special launch party tomorrow (Wednesday, November 18th 2009), which we’ve been invited to. The launch event is being held in London, though we cannot reveal the exact location.
