LittleBigPlanet getting new search options

0

In a update on the PlayStation.Blog, MediaMolecule has announced new search feature to be included in the PlayStation 3 version of LittleBigPlanet. The blog post also reiterated that a PSP version of LBP is in development, but will not affect downloadable content for the PlayStation 3 version. The new search features will allow gamers to search for specific levels using PSN IDs, as well as keyword search (see below for details). New downloadable content is also on the way, including Killzone 2, Buzz! Quiz and Heavenly Sword costumes.

How level search will work:

  • @ searches for a specific author (e.g. @Sackboy)
  • searches for words in a level’s title (e.g. PSP yields level names with "PSP" in it)
  • ‘ ‘ (single quotes) will search for the input word on level titles and descriptions
  • " " (double quotes) just like in search engines, searches for exact phrases
  • You can combine these techniques for a more comprehensive search.

PSP Promises Huge Line-up for 2009

Earlier today, SCEE announced several news games coming to the PSP this year. The new games including LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm, previously only available on PlayStation 3, will be coming to PSP this year. These are just the start of a stellar line-up of games coming to PSP this year, according to Sony’s press release, which claims that 2009 will be the biggest year for PSP to date.

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift Game Update 1 Now Live

0

MotorStorm: Pacific Rift has received its first update patch bringing a bunch of new features and changes to the game. One of the most significant improvements is the ability to backup and restore your save data so you can keep it safe. Other improvements include better quality photos for screenshots taken in Photo Mode and the online leaderboard are now easier to understand. We’ve included the complete list of changes below.

Changes:

  • You can now back up your save data for later restoration to the User Account it was created under (on any PS3 system, so you shouldn?t ever need to lose your personal progress).
  • A ?MotorStorm Helmet? icon is now displayed on-screen during critical data saves. This is in addition to the HDD Access Indicator, which currently flashes while the game makes a critical save.
  • We?ve fixed an exploit that was recently found where pausing and unpausing during critical boosting would grant you an extra second or so of boost. Repeated over and over people have been able to shave seconds off the top leaderboard times. Seems like a lot of work for someone just to cheat at a leaderboard time, but it?s all fixed now. Anyone who has used this exploit please be warned – we?ll be clearing down your times off the leaderboards shortly.
  • We?ve made the online rankings easier to understand, and made the whole Online experience even smoother and easier.
  • You can be confident that Photos taken in Photo Mode will now look their best, because we?ve tuned the graphics up a notch in this mode.

In addition to the changes listed above, other changes are also included in the same. You will be prompted to update your copy the next time you boot up the game. Update 2 is now in development and will most likely contain new Trophies to unlock, according to the PlayStation.Blog post,

"Game Update 2 is also on the way soon, which has some very cool new content in it, especially if you have a bit of a penchant for collecting cool stuff, or if you?re the type of person who enjoys PS3 Trophies and the like. I?ll say no more for now, and leave that one hanging there…"

Can I play PlayStation 1 games on my PSP?

0

In order to play PlayStation 1 games on your PSP, you must be running firmware version 3.00 or above. PSOne games for the PSP can be downloaded using a PS3 via the PlayStation Store or you can use the PlayStation Store for PC. You will a memory stick duo of size 512MB or above in order to download games onto your PSP.

Please note that PS1 game discs cannot fit into the PSP’s UMD slot. Trying will either damage your disk or the PSP. This should be obvious since the PS1 disc is much larger than a UMD disc.

How do I rip games into ISOs?

0

There are several homebrew applications available that allow you to rip UMDs to the memory stick or even to a PC. Our favorites are UMD Tool and UMD Net Ripper. Depending on the application you choose, the UMD will be dumped differently, for example, UMD Net Ripper uses Wi Fi to dump the UMD directly to your PC, while UMD Tool dumps it to the memory card. Please check the ‘read me’ files that come with your chosen application.

Please remember that ripping games is illegal unless you own the game.

Mirror’s Edge demo coming to PlayStation Store tomorrow

0

We were lucky enough to play the Mirror’s Edge demo at the Eurogamer Expo 2008 earlier today, which was held in London. If you are eager to play this upcoming title, the wait is only hours away. In a press release earlier today, EA announced that the demo will be available to download from the PlayStation Store after tomorrows update. The demo will be available to download from the European PlayStation Store, but there were no details about North America getting a demo too.

Press Release from EA:

"Guildford, UK ? October 29, 2008. This week gamers can ?take a leap of Faith’ with a special demo for Mirror’s Edge, available at the PlayStation Store on October 30th and on Xbox LIVE Marketplace on October 31st. The demo will feature the prologue of the game, a tutorial and a segment of the single-player story mode. Now is your chance to experience the action that has GameSpot saying ‘Unlike anything we’d ever played before.’"
