Are you a PSP owner who also happens to be a Mathematician???

1

While browsing the news over at the great website psp-vault.com, i found a … calculator emulator. The purpose of this is still unknown to me but here is what psp-vault.com had to say:

“A coder named xz-81 has released an HP48 Calculator emulator for the PSP. It’s already in version 1.0, and “working fine,” so give it a shot if you’re uhh…into calculating things.”

Thanks again to PSP-vault.com for this info.

PSP GPS?

1

Could this photo represent some truth to the rumored PSP GPS device. The advert suggests that GPS could be added, however it shows the PSP “WWW” symbol in the corner. It could be that the advert is simply refering to connecting to Wi-FI Hotspots to access Maps via the Internet Browser.

Similar advers suggest other applications in upcoming firmware versions, such as an Email Client.

Should i get excited now?

Is it just me who thinks that there is a severe lack of PSP games around? Every night I put the old dial-up modem to work searching for PSP games that have some-how slipped through my fingers. But alas there have only been 4 games since the PSP’s release that have got me excited, GTA, Def jam vendetta, The godfather and Tomb Raider: Legend. We want more now don’t we!

Gun for PSP???

1

Do you remember that fantastically short western themed game that came out late last year? Well if you do then you must remember that they announced a PSP version of the game. What I want to know is what?s going on?? I haven’t heard any news about Gun for a long time. Knowing Activision it will probably be canceled but for those of you with fond memories of galloping around Dodge and Empire, lets try and stay optimistic.

The next version of Sony’s PSP will sport an integrated digital video camera that will allow users to stream live video to the PlayStation 3, according to an anonymous source. The feature, which will utilize the PSP’s Wi-Fi support, will be marketed as the new way to chat with friends while on the go.
According to the tipster, the “PSP 2” will also gain the recently rumored NAND flash storage, though the first generation of the new model will only be available with 4GB instead of the 8GB currently speculated. Sony will also trim approximately a quarter of inch from the device, and offer it in three color choices ? black, white and silver.

The source claims that the tiny camera will be an off-the-shelf stock unit that is currently being used in several Sony Ericsson mobile phones, and will also allow users to take still photos, in addition to video. Its placement will be directly below the PSP’s screen, where the “PSP” logo can currently be found.

The new PSP’s video streaming capabilities will be considered a must-have addition for Sony’s upcoming PS3 console. While details are obviously scant at this point, the source say the streaming will be made possible through the upcoming HUB PlayStation service, which will supposedly launch alongside the PS3 and compete directly with Microsoft’s Xbox Live service.

PSP World has not been able to confirm the existence of a new PSP or any of the alleged new features claimed by the tipster, so the above should be taken with a grain of salt. However, such a revamp would seem to fit in with Sony’s vision for the product.

PSP2

According to a Japanese website, Samsung has stated that they are making NAND Flash Memory for the PSP2. In addition, Samsung claims SCEI wants to use Samsung Flash memory hard disk drives instead of a UMD Player in the new PSP.

According to market sources, Sony plans to release a version of its PSP (PlayStation Portable) using NAND flash from Samsung Electronics in the second half of this year.

The PSP will feature 8GB of NAND flash, the sources stated.

Although recent reports stated that Sony would opt not to use NAND flash in the next version of its PSP, and would instead use a microdrive, the sources indicated that Sony was stalling to negotiate better pricing from Samsung.

PSP Email Client and GPS

0

According to a sneak peak of the March issue of Playstation Magazine an email client will be included in an upcoming firmware update.

The built-in email program, called Sony Mail, will use the unique ID number assigned to each PSP at manufacture to eliminate a potentially confusing server setup. The program won?t require users to access a web site, but will let them choose a unique user name to associate with their PSP?s ID.

Also, Sony will release its GPS (global positioning system) add-on for PSP later on in the year. The yet-to-be-priced package will include the actual GPS peripheral, which connects to the top of the PSP via the USB 2.0 port, and a UMD containing navigation software and street data.
