According to a forum post on the US PlayStation Forum, Home Manager "TedTheDog" has suggested that PlayStation Firmware 2.50 will be released sometime in October to deal with some problems experienced in PlayStation Home. TedTheDog has also suggested that Home v1.0 will also be released around the same time, though it is not know if it will be available to the public as well.

The forum post reads as follows:

"I wont go into the technicalities, admittedly because I simply didnt understand them although they did try to explain it to me, but we are waiting for a system software update to thePS3 to deal with this.

2.5 is what we’re waiting for and "October" is what I’ve heard, later October is my guess.

This should tackle the PS3 freezes and the Network Error problems. Then Home 1.0 will be upon us too and you can read into that what you will."

Until an official announcement from Sony, this should all be considered as a rumor. We will bring you more news as it becomes available.

It’s official – LittleBigPlanet has gone ‘gold’, meaning that development on the game has finished. The game will be available to purchase in North America on October 21st, followed by Europe, Australia and New Zealand on October 22nd, and UK and Ireland on October 24th. Japan can expect the game week commencing October 27th. Although development on the game is now complete, Media Molecule won’t be resting anytime soon – the team will now start to work on downloadable content.

The game will feature over 50 levels out of the box which can be enjoyed in single player mode or in multiplayer mode with up to four players. For a limited time after launch, a free spaceman costume for Sackboy will be available for download as well as a rare ‘Week One’ Sackboy t-shirt. Can’t wait for the game to come out? PlayTV is now available to purchase in Europe. The PlayStation 3 accessory allows you to watch Live TV as well as record shows directly to the PS3 hard drive. The device is now available to purchase in Europe (selected countries only, including UK, France, Italy and Germany), and allows you to watch free over-the-air TV, like the Freeview service in the UK. The device is available for £69 and contains twin tuners (allows you to watch one channel while recording another). You also have the ability to record TV while playing games.

The PlayStation 3 even turns itself on to record a scheduled program and then shuts down after wards. Users in the UK will be able to access over 40 channels while France will be able to view over 20. Unfortunately, the device does not support HD TV. The LittleBigPlanet trophy list has been revealed. The game, due for release later next month, will contain 48 unlockable trophies. You will be able to unlock 36 bronze trophies, four of which are secret, 8 silver trophies, 3 gold trophies and 1 platinum trophy. Most trophies sound easy to unlock so you should have all the trophies in no time. Earlier this week we migrated the website to a newer faster server to help deal with the increase in traffic. There were a few hiccups in the move, which seem to have been resolved now. You should notice a faster surfing experience. If you encounter any problems, please report them in the comments section. We will be changing a few things around over the next few weeks so you may notice a few differences.

The wallpaper gallery was taken offline earlier last week, but is now back online. If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see changed, please use the comment section. The PSP M4M magazine will be released once the team has time to put it together. As for XTREME PSP Mag, we will be continuing work on it soon so look out for more news on that.

After yesterday’s early accidental release of Life with PlayStation, Sony has officially announced the release of the new service today. The service is available for free and can be downloaded through the Folding@Home icon on the XMB under the [Network] category. Life with PlayStation delivers a new way for you to utilize your PS3 to instantly access real-time news and information like weather updates from over 60 cities around the world. While the service is in use, you will also be helping Stanford University to work towards curing diseases such as Alzheimer?s and various types of cancers.

Life with PlayStation provides a stunning interactive globe, a 3D world map that you can twirl around to see live cloud movement courtesy of the University of Wisconsin, combined with up-to-date weather information from the Weather Channel, top news headlines provided by Google news, and live web cam images via the Earth Television Network – all localized to the select city.

SOCOM: Confrontation public beta will be patched to version 1.30 later today at 12:00PM GMT. The patch will attempt to correct bugs and errors encountered in the game, including poor loading times when joining a match, network lag, and other improvements. Other issues such as bad framerate, game crashes and loading screen freezes will be fixed in a future patch. You can find full details of the changelog below.

• Abnormally long network synchronization issues when some users in a game have a poor network connection. This issue causes 4-7 minute (or longer) load times when late joining a game.
• Fixed an issue where respawn game late joiners were sometimes stuck in spectator mode and could not respawn into the game.
• Removed the latency detection network test which was causing some users with poor network connections to receive the network latency icon (red X).
• Fixed an issue where clients with different client versions (patches) could play together in a default medley game.
• Fixed an issue where if the session master leaves the game, late joiners could not “green up” and late join into the game.
• Fixed corrupt characters in the European and Japanese EULAs and Server News.
• Fixed many join game issues and made joining a game quicker. We are still optimizing this.
• Fixed an issue where if you add and then remove someone from your block list they were still unable to send you a message.
• Improved accuracy while moving (based on user feedback). Partial implementation. More improvements to come.
• Reduced the encumbrance penalty (based on user feedback).
• Changed the default round time for Medley games from 8 minutes to 6 minutes (based on user feedback).

Sony has released Life with PlayStation without letting out a single word about it. An update is available for the Folding@Home client, which installed replaces the folding icon with the Life with PlayStation icon (which is much more suited to the XMB). If you are using Life with PlayStation, your online status will also be updated to show the same (Folding@Home will be replaced with Life with PlayStation).

The release of Life with PlayStation was accidently released today, and Sony have since pulled the update. Sony as stated that during today’s test phase, the update was accidently released to the general public. The official release isn’t going to be today as we previously reported. Sony will be making an official announcement on the release soon.­
