The custom soundtrack feature on the PS3 hasn’t received much support since it was added in Firmware 2.40, but it has been confirmed that ModNation Racers will support the feature. According to Chuck Lacson, the Associate Product Marketing Manager of SCEA, ModNation Racers will have custom soundtracks support, “If you play music on your XMB, that’s the music that will replace the in game soundtrack.”
Tomorrow, the US PlayStation Home will be updated with a number of new spaces including Assassin’s Creed II and Alien vs. Predator. The Assassin’s Creed II space is packed with heaps of interactive content – including a multiplayer tower defense game that pits Assassins against Templars. A ton of Alien vs. Predator content is also headed to PlayStation Home this week with full Predator costumes and full Alien costumes.

March 24, 2005 will always be known in PlayStation history as the day Sony debuted the PSP system in North America. The “Maxed Out” trophy in God of War III can only be obtained after completely upgrading all your weapons (or so you would think). A forum user at PS3Trophies.org has discovered an alternative method to acquiring the trophy (see below). The glitch appears in Combat Arena, which will be unlocked once you beat the story and Challenge of Olympus mode.
Nintendo recently announced 3D portable gaming on their DS console, dubbed the “3DS”. You would expect Sony to pursue in a similar direction with the PSP console, however, SCEA’s Director of Hardware and Marketing John Koller said the company is only focusing on the 3D console space right now. “Our focus on 3D right now is on the console,” he said. “There’s a tremendous amount of opportunity on PlayStation 3 with 3D.”
ModNation Racers has two different multiplayer elements for users to enjoy: online multiplayer for up to 12 players and split-screen for up to four local players. In addition, the two local players can join in on online races adding a new element to the game. A remake of the PSOne classic Final Fantasy VII has been requested ever since a tech demo of the opening sequence of the game was first revealed on the PlayStation 3. Unfortunately, Square Enix has repeatedly said that no remake is currently planned. In a interview with Siliconera during the Final Fantasy XIII launch party, Yoichi Wada, President and CEO of Square Enix, revealed that Square Enix are exploring the possibility of a remake.
Today marks the PlayStation 3’s third birthday in Europe. The 60GB PS3 console was released exactly three years ago after suffering production delays. A lot has changed over the past three years, including over 35 firmware updates and lots of exclusive games including Heavy Rain, the multi-award winning Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 and inFamous.
God of War III has pushed Final Fantasy XIII from the number one spot in the UK all-format charts this week after the title suffered a 80% drop in sales, according to the latest GfK Charts. Final Fantasy XIII has dropped to third place but still holds the record for the fastest selling game in 2010, while Battlefield: Bad Company 2 retains second position. Kratos’ latest adventure outsold God of War II’s launch by a ratio of 2.65 to 1.
