New content has been added to the European PlayStation Store, with the stand-alone version of Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry now available on the PS4 and PS3, as well as the PS4 beta for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn. New DLC and a number of PS3 and PS Vita games are available too.
The PS4 continues to prove how powerful it is with upcoming game, Thief, confirmed to run natively at 1080p resolution. In comparison, the game will run at 900p on the Xbox One, with both version running at 30 frames per second (fps). Nicolas Cantin, Game Director, said, “You really need good eyes to see the difference,” meaning that the Xbox One version is effectively “as good as the PS4 version”.

A new minor firmware update for the PS4 is now available, updating the console to v1.61. The firmware is mandatory, which means it must be installed before you can access the PlayStation Network. The update, which is 336 MB in size, improves system stability.
Following the NPD figures released earlier this month, Sony has revealed the latest PS4 sales figures. As of February 8th 2014, the PS4 has sold an estimated 5.3 million units around the world – an increase of 1.1 million units since December 28th.
Konami has revealed a Limited Edition PS4 console with Metal Gear Solid 5 branding, dubbed the “Fox Edition”. The console will come with Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, and will be available to purchase on March 20th 2014 in Japan for ¥46,980. The Limited Edition console itself features nothing more than a Foxhoud decal.
