After endless promotions, trailers and advertising by Sony, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale has failed to make a dent in the UK charts. The title entered the chart at position 38 after the first week of sales, way behind titles like Hitman Absolution, Assassin’s Creed III and LEGO Lord of the Rings. In fact, LEGO Lord of the Rings was the highest ranking new title at position 6.
The first week’s numbers for Call of Duty: Black Ops II are in and the news is as expected. The game has sold over 11 million units across the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in it’s first week on sale. In comparison, the game outsold the previous version by around 550,000 units, which sold over 10.5 million units in its first week.
From now until 31st December, Sony Entertainment Network is exclusively offering PlayStation Plus customers the opportunity to enjoy the Music Unlimited Premium service for one year for just £11.99/€11.99/107.99 Kr/AU$13.99, down from £119.88/€119.88/1079.88 Kr/AU$143.88.
Hitman: Absolution has seen many trailers over the past few months in the run up to the game, but Square Enix has one last trailer to reveal now that the game is available to buy. The launch trailer below shows off the game in its full glory, so take a peek and enjoy.
With Christmas just around the corner, Sony and Insomniac Games have revealed that the Resistance Collection will be coming to the PS3 in North America next month. Retailing for $39.99, the collection will include all three Resistance games released on the PS3, plus all the DLC content to go along with it.
Free-to-play iOS / Android title Jetpack Joyride has launched in North America this week, available on all three of Sony’s platforms. The game has been downloaded over 35 million times on mobile devices, but the game costs a premium on Sony’s consoles, costing $3.99 instead of being free like on iOS and Android.
If you are planning to download the digital versions of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, you’ll be happy to know that the download sizes of each of the versions have been revealed ahead of the game’s release. The PS3 version of the game will take up close to 6 GB of space on your hard drive, while the PS Vita version is less than a third of that.
In a rare move for publishers, Square Enix has removed the requirement of having a valid online pass for Hitman: Absolution. Most publishers would hinder used game sales by requiring anyone with a second hand copy to have a valid online pass, or purchase one in order to make full use of the game.
Before launch, Sony said that the re-designed PlayStation Store would receive regular updates, and the first is now available to download. A new patch is available updating the Store to version v1.01, and is 26 MB in size. Unfortunately, no changelog is included so we don’t actually know what’s new.
The Walking Dead Episode 5 releases in North America and Europe this week and Telltale Games has released a trailer of the upcoming Episode to give you a taster of what’s to come.
