Online Storage

 

  • [Online Storage] has been added as a feature under Game > [Saved Data Utility (PS3™)] . You can store PlayStation 3 format software saved data on a PlayStation Network server and download it to another PlayStation 3 system to continue playing your game. To use this feature you must have a PlayStation Network account and be a PlayStation Plus member.

Settings

  • Under [Power Save Settings] > [Controller Auto-Off], you can now set the PS3 system so that the connected or paired controllers will turn off after 10, 20 or 30 minutes of idle time.

Settings

  • [Deep Color Output (HDMI)] has been added as an option under [Display Settings].
  • [Automatic Download] has been added as a feature under [System Settings]. This feature is exclusively for use by PlayStation Plus members.
  • The default setting for [System Auto-Off] under [Power Save Settings] has been changed to [After 2 Hours].

Photo

  • You can now print a photo in [Photo Gallery].
  • You can now delete a photo in [Photo Gallery].
  • [PlayStation®Network Area] has been added under [Photo Gallery]. You can now use Photo Gallery to browse photos from Facebook® or Picasa™ Web Albums. You can also share photos from Photo Gallery with your Friends on PlayStation Network.

Video

  • [Video Editor & Uploader] has been added under [Video]. Using the video editing and uploading feature, you can now edit video content that is saved on your PS3 system’s hard disk and upload it to Facebook or YouTube™.

Network

  • PlayStation Plus membership is now supported on PlayStation Network.

Friends

  • You can now see the trophy level of a Friend by selecting the Friend’s avatar.

Other

  • You can now use a five-star rating system to evaluate products that you purchase from PlayStation Store.
  • The internal clock functionality that accounts for leap years has been improved.

Settings

  • You can now select [PC] as an option under [Remote Play Settings] > [Register Device]. When you select this option, you will be able to use the remote play feature to operate your PS3 system from future models of the VAIO PC. Details of this feature will be announced on the official VAIO website at vaio.eu/playstation in May 2010.
  • [Bitstream (Direct)] and [Bitstream (Mix)] have been added as options under [Video Settings] > [BD Audio Output Format (Optical Digital)].
  • 3D stereoscopic games are now supported. At the time of the system software release, there are no 3D stereoscopic games available for the PlayStation 3 system. The release of 3D stereoscopic games will be announced at a later date. If the TV in use supports 3D stereoscopic display, the screen from which you can set the TV size will be displayed when adjusting the video output settings. Follow the on-screen instructions to adjust the settings.

Game

  • You can now sort your trophies by the game title or by the date earned.
  • Names of trophies that you have not yet earned are now displayed as [Hidden Trophy] instead of [???].

  • The playback quality of some PlayStation format software that is downloaded (as a purchase or for free) from PlayStation®Store has been improved.
