PlayStation Home is the place to be today, thanks to Sony. You will be able to watch the 2010 ball drop in the Central Plaza at 11:59PM on December 31st 2009. You won’t have to go out in the cold and you can still enjoy the company of your friends. When the ball drops, you will receive exclusive items for use in PlayStation Home.
Mat Thomas, a game designer at United Front Games, has created a walkthrough video to talk about their approach to the racing and give you an insight into the philosophy around developing the handling, weapons and AI. Although the PlayStation 3 has a 10-year lifespan, Sony is already moving forward with the PlayStation 4. According to insider info (along with some speculation), Japanese website PC Watch Impress is reporting that Sony is looking to alternatives to the PS3’s Cell architecture, which some developers have found to be challenging. One early alternative include Cell and Intel’s Larrabee. Wanting a bit more horsepower, Sony has apparently abandoned this plan.
2010 is looking to be a big year for Sony with many exclusives and hotly anticipated titles. In fact, Q1 of 2010 is likely to be a expensive period for PlayStation gamers, with the likes of MAG, Heavy Rain and Gran Turismo 5 scheduled for release. We’ve put together a list of five titles every PlayStation gamer should experience in the New Year.
The latest footage from PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain comes from the Polish version of the game. The video shows some of the QTE (Quick Time Events) in the game and also contains some of that much talked about nudity, so be sure not to watch the video at work. The game is expected to hit stores in February 2010.

Assassin’s Creed 2 is getting two downloadable packs early next year, with the first pack out in January followed by another in February. The DLC packs, Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities, were originally supposed to be part of the main game, but was dropped due to time constraints. “I felt that, ‘Okay, there were too many things to do and to finish.’ So we said, ‘Okay, let’s take a portion of the game that was planned and we’ll give it in DLC.’ We’ll remove some stress to the team while giving more to fans and people who like Assassin’s Creed,” Patrice Desilets told Kotaku.

Announced today through Roadrunner Records, the EP titled God of War: Blood & Metal, will be released in March as a part of the God of War III Ultimate Edition, and will feature five exclusive unreleased songs from Roadrunner artists, including KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, DREAM THEATER, TRIVIUM, OPETH and TAKING DAWN.
The PlayStation Store has been updated today, rather than the usual Thursday updates. A large number of games have been discounted until January 7th 2010. PSOne classic Vagrant Story is now available to purchase, and new playable demos have been added too. The first set of Premium Avatars are also available for purchase, all based on LittleBigPlanet. adhocParty is also finally available in Europe too. The LittleBigPlanet Pirates of the Caribbean costumes are available to purchase on both the US and European Stores.
