Currently, Netflix users require a disc in order to stream TV shows to the PlayStation 3. Over the next few months, Netflix has confirmed that a disc-free solution will be rolled out similar to the Hulu Plus application. The Netflix application will allow dynamic updating of the Netflix library on the PS3 as well as providing bug fixes via patches.

European PlayStation Store Update for July 21st 2010

On the European PlayStation Store this week you can find discounts on a number of PSN titles, available until August 4th 2010. You can also find episode 4 of Sam & Max, and two new Minis titles. The Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days demo is available for download and you can also find lots of new game add-on content.
PlayStation Move vs. Xbox Kinect vs. Nintendo Wii

If you are unclear how the PlayStation Move compares with the Xbox 360 Kinect and Nintendo Wii, Sony has released a handy comparison chart to indicate the differences. In most categories, the PlayStation Move prevails as the clear leader but in terms of price, the difference is less clear (and missing from the comparison chart).
US PlayStation Store Update for July 20th 2010

On the US PlayStation Store this week you can find more PlayStation Plus goodies, including a exclusive demo of Kane & Lynch 2, as well as Heavy Rain avatars and more PSN game discounts. As for normal content, you can find the fourth episode of Sam & Max, lots of game add-on content, and new game videos and trailers. You can also find a selection of new avatars, XMB themes and wallpaper.
SCEE Announces “PlayStation Beta”

Sony UK and the English PlayStation Community Team have teaming up to bring a super-special gaming event for all hardcore gamers in the UK: The PlayStation Beta Rooms. From Friday 30th July – Sunday 1st August, Sony will be turning a secret Central Birmingham venue into a gamer’s paradise, allowing gamers to play-test some upcoming games.
Top Gun Coming to PSN Soon

Soon you will be able to join Maverick, Goose, Iceman and Viper roar into the sky again as Top Gun heads to the PlayStation Network. The game features all-new dialogue and storyline written by the film’s screenwriter, Jack Epps, Jr., as well as three single-player and five multiplayer modes.
Medal of Honor Beta Extended

The Medal of Honor beta on the PS3 and PC was scheduled to end today, but has instead been extended. Although the beta key card said the registration code would expire on July 18th 2010, codes can still be redeemed from www.medalofhonor.com/beta. It is currently not clear how long the beta has been extended for.
Killzone 3 Will Have Zero Loading Times

Killzone 3 is certainly shaping up to be Game of the Year for 2011. Guerrilla Games recently talked to the press about how seamless the experience will be with Killzone 3 and the loading times (or lack of). Steven Ter Heide was quoted as telling Ausgamers that “loading times are pretty much gone.”
3D Games Will Be Capped at 720p Resolution

Sony has confirmed at 3D games will be limited to 720p resolution. Games that run natively at 1080p are being scaled down in 3D mode, with one 720p image being output for each eye. Sony’s Simon Benson explained during the Develop conference in Brighton that the limit was imposed to keep games running at a smooth 60 frames per second.
Sega Dropping Support for Aliens vs Predator

The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Aliens vs Predator will no longer be getting any new DLC and patches. Sega has announced they will be cutting further support for the title, but they didn’t state why support was being cut. The PC version of the game remains unaffected, for now.
