Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance producer, Yuji Kurekado, has confirmed that the game will receive DLC content after the game’s release. The DLC content will add new missions and playable characters to the game Kurekado confirmed.
Bethesda have announced that Doom 3 BFG Edition will be released on the PS3 from October 16th in the US and October 19th in Europe. The game is a remastered version of Doom 3 but will include the Resurrection of Evil add-on pack and seven new levels called “The Lost Mission”, as well as trophies.
Speaking last week to MCV, Andrew House, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment, had an interesting response when asked about the PlayStation 4 and “why is now not the time to talk about a new PlayStation.” He also had quite a bit to say about the PlayStation Vita and how it’s doing in the market.
As part of today’s PlayStation Store update in North America, WipEout HD is free to download if you own WipEout 2048 on the PlayStation Vita. The game was previously given away as part of the “Welcome Back” initiative after the PlayStation Network was hacked. The game is free as part of the DLC packs released today for the PS Vita.
On Wednesday, the fourth DLC pack for DC Universe Online will hit the PlayStation Store. The DLC content is the first major update almost entirely focused on player versus player (PvP) combat. The Last Laugh will include hours of multiplayer gameplay in the Safe Houses and Headquarters, an all-new weapon, and new Light-Powered and Kryptonian Legends PvP characters.
According to some “reliable” specs over on NeoGAF, the PS4 hardware is “more or less set in stone.” The forum post indicates that the PS4, codenamed “Orbis” will feature a AMD CPU with 4 cores and a AMD GPU capable of producing 1.8 teraflops. The RAM is also set at a rather low 2GB of GDDR5 RAM, and unlikely to be upgraded to 4GB.
The PlayStation Network will be going offline this Wednesday for scheduled maintenance. The maintenance window will begin at 16:00 BST until 20:30 BST on June 20th 2012 but the reason for maintenance was not given. During the downtime, users will be unable to sign-in to the PSN, PlayStation Store and related services.
PS3 exclusive RPG Rainbow Moon has been given a release date of July. In Europe, the game will be released on July 4th, but the North American and South East Asian release dates still need to be finalised but have a release window of July too.
THQ has released a new trailer for Darksiders II, in which a holy man preaches about the coming of Death and that’s exactly what happens. Darksiders II: Death Lives launches on consoles in August, and you can pick up the first title for free if you are a PlayStation Plus subscriber.
Gamecom is the next biggest game’s expo after E3, so it’s strange that Microsoft and Nintendo have declined to attend this year. However, Sony and most games publishers will be attending as usual, according to Joystiq. The expo attracted over over 275,000 attendees last year, so it’s a big opportunity for console makers to show off upcoming games.
