During today’s PlayStation State of Play broadcast revealed a substantial new gameplay footage for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, and confirmed that the game will launch for PS5 in April 2027. The game is the final entry in the acclaimed Final Fantasy VII Remake Series.
Players can navigate an expansive open world aboard the famous Highwind airship. Fresh information regarding battles, party swapping, and environmental movement has been disclosed, along with the addition of Cid and Vincent as newly playable characters. Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set to release on April 8, 2027.
New gameplay details
Players able to depend once more on their faithful chocobo partner Piko, who in this title functions as both a mount and fighting ally. Piko will level up alongside the group, acquiring new skills that help throughout both travel and combat.
Battle mechanics are greatly expanded with the introduction of the Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear, abbreviated as the FITS System. FITS enables players to tailor their playstyles using special attire equipped with distinct move sets. There are four distinct FITS: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. These suits radically transform party members’ skill sets and battle roles, unlocking fresh strategic options. Beyond combat skills, the FITS also revamp a character’s visuals – ensuring these outFITS make a bold fashion statement!
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will debut a dynamic character-swapping mechanic, allowing players to seamlessly alternate between active party members as they explore the world. Movement options have also been upgraded with a grappling gun that enables players to swiftly ascend rooftops and stylishly navigate the city.
Additionally, players can select which companion tackles specific missions. This selection influences how particular plot events and gameplay situations develop, offering distinct story experiences tailored by every choice.
Card game enthusiasts will welcome the return of the popular minigame Queen’s Blood in Final Fantasy VII Revelation, which now features a major new story arc focused on Red XIII. Gamers will encounter formidable new rivals and distinctive tactical tests that build upon the strategic card game’s foundational mechanics. This updated Queen’s Blood campaign introduces adversaries who can drastically shift match momentum, offering novel tests for even veteran players.
Pre-order bonuses and revealing the Premium Editions
Pre-orders are live on PlayStation Store today. A special pre-order bonus is available for all editions of Final Fantasy VII Revelation. Fans who pre-order the game will receive the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia.
Additionally, a Premium Edition of Final Fantasy VII Revelation is available, bundling the base game, Story Expansion Pass, and 24-hour Early Access to play prior to launch. This edition further features an in-game accessory (Reclaimant Choker) along with various consumable items designed to assist players during the initial parts of their adventure. The Story Expansion Pass unlocks two narrative-focused DLCs, with details expected soon.
The Final Fantasy VII Revelation Premium Plus Edition includes all Premium Edition content, but adds:

- Digital mini soundtrack
- Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia
- In-game armor (Nymphwing Bracelet)
- In-game accessory (Risk Taker’s Choker)
With expansive overworld travel, a deeper combat system, stunning new regions to explore, and personalised character-focused storytelling, Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set to deliver the most ambitious and feature-rich entry in the remake trilogy when it launches.
There’s no mention of a physical edition yet, but we hope this final part doesn’t break with tradition and neglect to release a physical version.
