Sony has released a new firmware update for the PS5, bringing the system software to v25.08-12.40.00. This is minor update to the system software, and is currently not mandatory to install.
This could be the last PS5 update for 2025. Unfortunately, it does not include any new features or functionality in time for Christmas. Instead, this update improves system performance and stability, as can be seen from the release notes below.
The last major update to the PS5 was PS5 System Software v25.06-12.00.00.
