Sony has released a new firmware update for the PS5, bringing the system software to v25.07-12.20.00. This is another minor update to the system software, but does a little more than improve system performance and stability.

This update also allows you to see the serial number of your console and connected DualSense controllers from Settings. The full release notes for the update can be found below. For the moment, this update is optional to install, so you can continue to use the PlayStation Network.

PS5 System Software Firmware Version v25.07-12.20.00

    • For a DualSense wireless controller, select Settings > Accessories > General > Advanced Settings > View Serial Number.
  • We’ve updated the device software of the DualSense Edge wireless controller to improve stability.
  • We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens.
