Questions Raised As Ubisoft Publishes PS5 Compatibility List Different to Sony

Earlier this week, Ubisoft published a list of PS4 games that would not be backwards compatible with the PS5, but these games were not mentioned in Sony’s official list of incompatible games. The list has since been retracted by Unisoft citing inaccuracies.

Although the list has now been removed by Unisoft, it does raise the question whether Sony’s list is accurate. It’s surprising that an overwhelming number of the 4000+ PS4 games are backwards compatible with the PS5, given Sony’s track record with backwards compatibility in the past.

Ubisoft have now removed the post citing inaccuracies. Their statement is as follows:

We have pulled the Ubisoft Connect article and forum post regarding backwards compatibility for the time being as there may be inaccuracies involving the Ubisoft titles that will be playable on PS5.

Why the list was published in the first place is unknown, as well as the reason why these games do not work with the PS5. And more importantly, if these games do not work on the PS5, why where these games missing from Sony’s list?
