The PS4 Specification Sheet

February 21st, 2013 / Niraj Shah / News
2

It’s real. Sony has revealed the PS4 earlier this evening at the PlayStation Meeting in New York. It’s a powerful machine to say the least, and most of the rumours around the console have been true. It’s got a X86 CPU, 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM and a secondary chip dedicated to uploading and downloading content. It’s even got a new controller: the DualShock 4. The new controller very closely resembles the leaked images from a few days ago.

The PS4 Specs:

  • X86 CPU
  • Supercharged PC architecture
  • 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM
  • Powerful APU (CPU and CPU combined) running at 2 teraflops
  • Hard Drive (unspecified size) for storing content
  • Secondary chip dedicated chip to uploading and downloading content in the background

The console will include Remote Play of every game via the PS Vita and possibly other mobile devices. What about PS1, PS2 and PS3 games, you ask? They will be playable too – via Gaikai’s streaming technology.
