Rumor Alert: No CECH-4000 PS3 at Gamescom

July 24th, 2012 / Niraj Shah / News

Although it was never confirmed by Sony, everyone was speculating the CECH-4000 PS3 model would be announced at Gamescom next month. However, VG247 are saying that the announcement will no longer happen because stock levels of the current 3000 model PS3 are still “too high”.

The CECH-4000 model was speculated to be announced at Sony’s Press Conference at the event, making it one of the major announcements. In related news, it’s claimed that the 16GB version of the CECH-4000 is very much real and will come with a ridiculously low price point.

The 16GB version may retail for as low as £99, making the console very affordable to anyone that doesn’t have one already.
