Sony Confirms PSN Pass

July 9th, 2011 / Niraj Shah / News
3

Sony will be bringing out a Network Pass program called PSN Pass, similar to some of the new games in the past few months. The pass will be a one-time use code that allows the gamer to access any online content for that particular game. Resistance 3 will be the first game to make use of PSN Pass.

The PSN Pass will be per game, so if you purchase a second hand game, you will have to purchase a new PSN Pass to access the online content. Publishers like EA are already doing this with their current games.

“We are always evaluating new programs for our online offering, and starting with Resistance 3 this September, we will be instituting a network pass program for PS3 games with online capabilities,” say Sony.

“This program will be game-specific. Games that are a part of this program will include a single-use registration code that grants the account holder redeeming the code full online access for that title.  This is an important initiative as it allows us to accelerate our commitment to enhancing premium online services across our first party game portfolio.”
