NGP Will Be Backwards Compatible

June 3rd, 2011 / XTREME PSP / News

Sony has confirmed that its upcoming next generation portable (or NGP) will offer full backwards compatibility support with all the PSP games available in the PlayStation Network library. Scott Rohde, SCEA’s  VP of Product Development, revealed the news at Sony’s Press Event earlier today.

“All PSP titles that are currently available on the PSN can be played on the NGP,” he said. “And they’ll take full advantage of the graphics smoothing capabilities of the system and the controls will be remapped to take advantage of the dual analog sticks.”

Sony Bend’s Resistance: Retribution was shown during the press event running run via a software emulator and taking advantage of the NGP’s dual analogue sticks, with the second analogue stick being used to move the character’s point of view.

Backwards Compatibility, NGP
