PlayStation 3 Firmware v3.42 Now Available

A new firmware update is now available for the PlayStation 3. Firmware version v3.42 doesn’t add anything new to the software, but simply includes security fixes for the console. The new update disables the use of the recent USB dongle hack, whether it’s the Groove, the Jailbreak, or the PS Freedom.

Killzone 3 Release Date Announced

The biggest 3D game of 2011 has finally got a release date. Guerrilla Games and Sony have revealed that Killzone 3 will be available to purchase in North American from February 22nd 2010. Guerrilla Games has been hard at work making the most explosive shooter possible on the PlayStation 3 system.

Top Gun for PSN Priced and Dated

Those eagerly awaiting the release of Top Gun will be happy to know that SCEE has finally revealed the release date and price point for the game. The game will be available to download from the PlayStation Store next week, on September 8th 2010. The game will will cost £7.99 / €9.99.

FirstPlay Episode 22 Details

Music Unlimited Powered By Qriocity Coming To PS3

Today at IFA 2010 in Berlin, Sony announced that Music Unlimited Powered by Qriocity, a cloud-based digital music service, will be coming to PlayStation 3 later this year. The service will give you access to millions of songs that are stored and synchronised through the cloud and can be accessed via a range of Sony devices, with one single account and without the need to manage digital files.

PlayStation Plus Content for September 2010

Gran Turismo 5 Has Two HDD Install Options

With Gran Turismo 5 just over two months away from release, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has recently made public the install details for the game. Yamauchi revealed on Twitter that a mere 256MB is the minimum hard drive space needed to run the game.

New PlayStation Move Tech Demo Video

Sony has created a new tech demo video of the PlayStation Move in action. The new video gives you a better peek as some of the upcoming Move titles like you’ve never seen them before. The video also shows Anton comfortably sitting on a couch when using the PlayStation Move controllers and the PlayStation Eye never reacted negatively to its reflection from the wall of monitors.

Final Fantasy XIV Delayed Due to Memory Issues

The “technical problems” cited by Square Enix as a reason to delay the launch of Final Fantasy XIV back in July was due to memory issues on the PS3. Producer Hiromichi Tanaka recently revealed that the reason for the delay was the PS3′s RAM restriction.
