Latest PSN Figures Released

The latest PlayStation Network numbers have been revealed by SCEA CEO Jack Tretton. The PlayStation Network experienced huge growth last year, marking its best revenue month in December. “A 155% increase in sales from the previous year,” according to Tretton. The service now has over 40 million registered users. In early January 2009, the number of registered users was only 17 million.

Of course, many people have multiple PSN accounts in order to access content across different regions. I have three different accounts myself – one for each of the major regions (US, Europe and Japan).

“PlayStation Network experienced huge growth last year, marking its best revenue month in December – a 155% increase in sales from the previous year. More than 40 million of you all over the world are coming to PlayStation Network to access multimedia content and to enhance your social gaming experiences.”

There’s rumours Sony is going to start charging for PSN. Hope online gaming is still free since it is something i don’t do that often – so don’t wanna pay for a month n only be using it for a day!
