Sony refuses to repair dusty PS3 under warranty

Sony have refused to repair a broken PlayStation 3 on the basis that is was too dusty, but later admitted that dust does not void your warranty. So, what’s going on here? According to one Sony customer service representative, the warranty is only voided if the console "was neglected, abused, dropped or anything like, modification like if you opened it up." Sony said that repairing the console posed a risk to the technician, and demanded a $150 out-of-warranty charge to repair the console.

Check out the images below. Do you think the PlayStation 3 is too dusty to be repaired? Seriously, would you let your precious PS3 get this dusty in the first place? In our opinion, this console does look neglected. Let us know what you think using the comment section below.

I cleaned my ps3 after looking at this, even though it was no way near this bad. The guy deserves this – is that how u treat a $600 gadget?

My PS3 was just refused warranty service as well. They wouldn’t even open it up to see what was wrong claiming excessive dust (I’m having them send pictures). The unit was thoroughly cleaned before it was sent in and while in use, the exterior was cleaned every other week and the vents where vacuumed once a month. All my other electronics have worked just fine for years with like maintenance.

I agree with sog,the ps3 can’t be harmed with dust. You never know when you add another device and suddenly stops working.I mean,I ADDED an internet cable and it just stoped reading the disks
