The processing power of the PlayStation 3 system takes the classic game to a whole new dimension, from detailed environments to richer animation. Battle Tanks, a game based on Combat2600 on the Atari and Battle City on the NES, is coming to the PlayStation Network later this month. Battle Tanks features World War II tanks that face off against each other in hopes to blow the other to smithereens. You can play against the AI or co-op with a friend in Campaign Mode to overcome 50 maze and paint ball-like levels. There’s also a fun multiplayer option also allows two to four people to challenge each other in Death Match modes or Capture the Flag mode.
The ESRB has leaked the names of a number of PSOne games that have been re-rated, likely signifying their imminent appearance on the PlayStation Network. Among the titles you will find the two Oddworld titles, Blood Omen, Pandemonium! and even Tomb Raider. So far, the names of 13 games have been release all of which you can find below. 3D games made a splash earlier this year at the Consumer Electronic Show 2009 when Wipeout HD and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue were shown off running in 3D. Today, the first 3D game hits the PlayStation Network, the side-scrolling beat-em-up Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao. You will need a pair of classic “red & blue” 3D glasses to see the anaglyphic 3D effects or a DLP HDTV capable of stereoscopic 3D.
A hand-to-hand action game, Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao allows players to pick up weapons, acquire different combos and learn various finishing moves. The game also features co-op multiplayer modes so players can enjoy the game at home with a friend or online with people around the world.
Smash Cars, from TikGames / Creat Studios, is already available to purchase in the US and it’s finally coming to Europe this week. Smash Cars is a tricked-out single and multiplayer online RC toy car racing game, with real-time physics simulation and vehicle customization. Players can twist and turn, grind and gear up, perform aerial tricks and stunts while racking up points as they knock friends off the track and race to the finish.
Zombie Apocalypse is pure and gory wish fulfillment. As heavily equipped gunslingers, Zombie Apocalypse sets players on a mission to destroy as many zombies as possible in order save the last remaining human survivors. Multiplayer is a key feature in a game of this type, and features four-player online co-op. With core values in place, we set out to fill that savage coffer with all the classic zombie lore we loved. The PlayStation Network will be undergoing maintenance tomorrow, Tuesday the 25th of August. As a result you will be unable to sign in to the PSN between 4:15pm and 9:05pm UK time. The maintenance window is global. If you’re already signed in before the maintenance begins, however, you should be able to stay connected to the PSN servers. It is likely that you’ll be disconnected and required to sign back in once the PSN comes back up at 9:05pm, though.
