Rocket League on PS4 is now Cross-Platform with PC, Xbox One & Switch

Sony and Psyonix have today confirmed Rocket League on PS4 is now fully cross-platform, as the game is now part of the PlayStation Cross-Play Beta Program. To enable cross-platform play, you’ll need to go to Options > Gameplay, and check the cross-platform play option.

This means that for the first time ever, PS4 owners can play the game together with PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch players.

The game doesn’t yet allow PS4 owners to create cross-platform parties yet but an update will be released to allow that eventually. However, you can create private matches with people on other platforms.

PS4 to get Cross-Platform Play Starting with Fortnite Beta

After some recent backlash from fans and game developers, Sony has announced that cross-platform play is coming to the PS4 after “a comprehensive evaluation process”. The first game to support cross platform play on the PS4 is Fortnite, with a “open beta” now available to PS4 gamers.

Sony Expects to Sell 20 Million PS4 This Fiscal Year

Sony have shared their forecast for this fiscal year’s expected PS4 sales, which ends on 31st March 2017. In the forecast, Sony is hoping to sell 20 million units, which is an increase of 8.3% on last years figures. In comparison, Sony sold 17.7 million PS4s during fiscal year 2015, exceeding it’s 17.5 million forecast for that year.

Square Enix’s Global Online Producer Sage Sundi recently confirmed to OneLastContinue that Final Fantasy XIV Online will support cross-platform interactivity for players. This means that both PlayStation 3 and PC users will be able to interact with each other across the different platforms. The PS3 version of the game will have full keyboard and mouse support. This will make Final Fantasy XIV the second full-scale Playstation 3 game to implement such a feature.
