A hidden browser has been discovered on the PlayStation Portal, capable of playing YouTube videos. The browser is very limited in functionality, but at least it’s usable outside of remote play with the PS5. Only the playstation.com website is accessible, but some YouTube videos can be played.

It’s a minority sport, but some people use their PS3 for accessing the web. Admittedly it’s not the most straightforward way to go about getting online. But – and here’s the good news – thanks to the way sites are increasingly being designed for tablets it is becoming less of a chore than it used to be.
Website AnandTech has run two speed tests on the internet browsers on the Xbox One and PS4, revealing that the PS4’s browser is 2-5x faster than the Xbox One, at least in terms of JavaScript performance. Two tests were run on each browser, the first using the Sunspider benchmark suite which measures JavaScript performance, and the second using Kracken, a JavaScript performance benchmark created by Mozilla.
Sony has launched a browser version of the PlayStation Store, allowing users in Europe to access the store on their PCs – something that has been requested by gamers many times in the past. The store lets you manage your funds, search for content, read information on games, add-ons, movies, TV and other content, and easily purchase it online.
