A recent rumor going around suggests that Firmware 3.40 will be available to download soon. According to TheSixthAxis, the firmware was released to developers late last week, so it will take a few weeks of testing before a public release. VG247 has learnt that Sony is to reveal plans for PSN’s premium services at E3. According to a highly-placed source, Sony will announce a large-scale monetizing scheme for PSN at the LA show next month, but it will not impact the service’s current free aspects (like online gaming).

A new version of Assassin’s Creed II has been announced for release in June. The “Complete Edition” is the full copy of the original game along with the two expansion packs released earlier this year: The Battle of Forli and Bonfire of the Vanities. Split/Second Hard Drive Install Requirements

Disney’s new racer from Blackrock Studio, Split/Second, hits the PlayStation 3 this week, arriving in the US on May 18th and in Europe on May 21st. Split/Second’s hard drive requirements have have also been revealed on the official box art. The game requires a massive 7GB of space in order to play the game, that’s 2GB more than the average game.

ModNation Racers Loading Patch Arriving After Launch

In our review of ModNation Racers, the biggest letdown for the game was the incredibly long loading times. SCEA has now confirmed that they are aware of the issues and are working on a patch.
