Episode 42 of FirstPlay hits the UK PlayStation tomorrow, and comes with two more PSN avatars. Episode 42 also includes reviews of two sci-fi titles: Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 2. You can also find a expert guide to tuning your car in Gran Turismo 5.
Multiple sources have confirmed that the PlayStation Phone release is imminent, though they failed to agree on an exact release date or time frame. The so-called “Playstation Phone” will be shown at next month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, alongside a new portable game player, the report says.
This week on the North America PlayStation Video Store, you can find the latest TV shows and new movies. New releases include Death Race 2, Stone, and Freakonomics. New TV includes the season 2 of Parks and Recreation and the first season of Perfect Couples.
A new multiplayer video of Killzone 3 has been released ahead of the games release and open beta. The new multiplayer video shows Killzone 3‘s third multiplayer map, Bilgarsk Boulevard – just one of eight different multiplayer maps in the game. The Bilgarsk Boulevard will be available to play in the open beta next month.
Sony has revealed the contents of the next PlayStation Plus update for North America, due for release on February 1st 2011. The first update for February will include an auto download of a demo of Tales from Space: About a Blob, 50% discounts off both versions of Fat Princess, and 20% of Kung-Fu LIVE. Before Killzone 3 is released later next month, you will be able to experience the game in the Open Beta. The beta will be available between the 3rd and the 15th of Feb 2011 from the PlayStation Store. This Beta will offer you exclusive early access to the MP05 ‘Frozen Dam’ multiplayer level from Killzone 3, including all three online multiplayer modes – Guerrilla Warfare, Warzone and Operations.
The UK PlayStation Video Store has been updated with new movies to rent and own. The highlight of this week includes Resident Evil Afterlife, which is now available in SD and HD resolutions. If you buy the HD version, you also get an SD version to watch on your PSP.
Following up on the announcement of Final Fantasy XIII-2 this week, Square Enix have also released the first teaser trailer for the game. Check out the trailer below, but be warned that the trailer contains minor spoilers about the previous title, if you haven’t completed playing the game yet.
