PS4 Firmware v1.50 is a day-one update for the console, available from launch. The firmware update adds a number of advertised features to the console, including Remote Play, the ability to record and upload game footage, online multiplayer and lots more. The patch is 300 MB in size.
To celebrate the worldwide launch of Batman Arkham Origins Warner Bros. have released the launch trailer for the game, which you can view right here. Reid Schneider, Vice President and Executive Producer at WB Games Montréal also gave a few choice quotes about the game.
Sony has detailed that a day-one patch will be required for the PS4 on launch day in both North America and Europe, weighing in at 300 MB. The patch will update the console to Firmware Version 1.50 and add many of the PS4’s advertised features, including Remote Play, Second Screen support, Online Multiplayer and more.
The winners for the 31st Golden Joystick Awards have been revealed, with a number of PlayStation exclusives making the list. Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us won several awards, including Best Newcomer, Best Studio and Best Storytelling. The PS Vita title Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation also won Best Handheld Game of the Year.
It has been revealed that Guerrilla Games’ Killzone: Shadow Fall on the PS4 will be weight in at 39.7 GB, if downloading the game from the PlayStation Network, but will be playable after an initial download of just 7.5 GB. Sony’s PlayGo system will allow the game to be played after less than 20% of the game has been downloaded.
SCE Canada has announced a new PS3 Slim bundle, featuring a “Azurite” blue PS3 console with a 250GB hard drive, a matching blue DualShock 3 controller, and a copy of EA Sports’ NHL14. The bundle will cost just $249.99, and is currently available exclusively to EB Games, available at both retail and online.
Ubisoft has revealed the official release date for Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation HD on the PS3 – a HD remake of the original PS Vita version of the game. The game will be coming to the PlayStation Store on January 14th 2014 in North America, and the following day, on January 15th 2014, in Europe.
Sony has released a new advert for the upcoming PS4, showing the many reasons why the PS4 should be the console you should choose, citing quotes from media, and taking some subtle shots at the Xbox One. The advert is based around Sony’s #4ThePlayers slogan, and lists just some of the exclusives available on the console as well as the exclusive DLC available on selected games.
Over ten new PS3 games are available on the PlayStation Store this week, including Batman: Arkham Origins on the PS3 and PS Vita, Rocksmith 2014 Edition and digital version of God Of War: Ascension. Two new betas are available on the Store too for PlayStation Plus subscribers, as well as plenty of new DLC content.
