If Square Enix was looking for a reason to remake the PSOne Classic Final Fantasy VII for the PS3, they’ve now got one. Final Fantasy VII and VIII were the top 2 most downloaded games on the North American PlayStation Store this week. FFVIII has taken the number one spot for the first time since it was released, followed by FFVII in second place.

New Borderlands DLC Announced
Gearbox Software and 2K Games have revealed the name and details for the third DLC expansion to Borderlands. Called The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, the new content is pitched as having “never-before-seen enemies in a huge new environment complete with tons of brand new missions.” JoyStiq have reported that new weapons and items are also promised in the DLC.
Final Fantasy XIII DLC Confirmed
Back in December, Square Enix hinted that downloadable content was being considered for Final Fantasy XIII. Now, a new quote from producer Yoshinori Kitase has somewhat confirmed the inevitability of extra content for the huge RPG. Kitase says, “We did prepare DLC but it will arrive a little later in the west.” The nature of the DLC content or Japanese release dates were not revealed.
GTA IV: Episodes From Liberty City Officially Announced for PS3
Rockstar weren’t kidding when they promised big things for PS3 owners. SCEA has officially announced today that GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City is coming to the PlayStation 3 this March 30th, 2010. The game will get both the digital and retail disc similar to the XBOX 360 version. It seems the exclusivity contract of Microsoft with Rockstar finally expired.
Bayonetta Patch was Made by Sony
Bayonetta was recently patched to alleviate loading times on the PS3 version of the game. The 135MB patch allows you to install 4.5GB of data to your PS3 hard drive to significantly improve load times significantly and reduce screen tearing as well. It turns out that patch was not created by Sega or Platinum Games, and was instead put together by Sony themselves.
PlayStation Store Update for Jan 28th 2010
This week on the PlayStation Store, the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves demo is now available to download from the European Store including two other demos. Europe has also received two new downloadable games. The US also has a number of new playable demos and new games to purchase. As for game add-on content, the first Assassin’s Creed II pack is available from both stores as well as the Uncharted 2: Among Thieves skin pack.
Heavy Rain Goes Gold
Development on Heavy Rain is complete and is off to manufacturing. This psychological thriller will be available at retail on February 23rd, 2010 in North America and February 24th, 2010 in Europe. White Knight Chronicles Goodness
We’re less than a week from the US release of White Knight Chronicles International Edition on February 2, we have a lot of new information to share with you. Staring off, the first of several White Knight Chronicles Dynamic Themes will be available from the PlayStation Store next Thursday, February 4. Also, you will be able to unlock a PlayStation Home costume and figurine by playing the game.
Assassin’s Creed II DLC Available This Week
If you finished playing through Assassin’s Creed II, then you may recall there were a couple of corrupted sequences that Desmond wasn’t able to access in the Animus. Well, this week, you’ll be able to play through the first of two “repaired” sequences, as The Battle of Forli hits the PSN on Thursday.
PlayStation Home Getting Heavy Rain Space
The secret door behind the jumbo screen in the Presentation Podium Space will be opening its doors today unveiling a brand new space – The Backstage Pass. If you make it through the security door, you will be able to take part in the Heavy Rain: Evidence Analysis mini-game. If you manage to complete difficult puzzle, you will be rewarded with a special prize.
