Borderlands 3 will be getting next-gen treatment, Gearbox has confirmed. The game will be updated to run in 4K at 60fps and will be releasing on PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. Gearbox has also revealed that existing owners will get free upgrades.
Existing owners will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version within the same console family. Progress and purchases will also carry over to the next-gen version too.
Gearbox has also announced that Borderland 3 will include new split screen options, with the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S version supporting four player local split screen. If there are just two players an option for a horizontal or vertical split will be added. The vertical split screen option will be added in a patch for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Borderlands 3.
