Users Report Price Rise for 3-Month PS+ Subscription in Europe

August 10th, 2015 / Niraj Shah / News

A number of NeoGAF users have received emails from Sony stating that the price of the three month subscription to PlayStation Plus will be rising from September. The subscription will rise from £11.99 for 90-days to £14.99, but the price for monthly and annual subscriptions will remain the same. The price change takes affect from 1st September 2015, and will affect your subscription on your renewal date.

The email says:

The price of your PlayStation Plus subscription is going to increase. On 01/09/2015 the price of a 3 month subscription will rise from £11.99 to £14.99. The price of an annual subscription will remain the same.

If your PlayStation Plus account is set to renew automatically you don’t need to do anything. You won’t begin paying the new rate immediately on 01/09/2015; instead you will start paying the new price from your first renewal date after 01/09/2015.

Sony have made no official comment regarding the price rise or for the reasons behind it, but it could be a move to get more gamers to subscribe to the annual subscription, which costs £39.99 (a saving of just under £20 after the price change, compared to a saving of just under £8 with the original pricing).
