Grand Theft Auto V has become the fastest selling videogame in UK history, it has been revealed, breaking the previous record set by Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops. The chart data shows GTA V sold a massive 1.57 million units across all platforms on it’s first day, compared with Call of Duty: Black Ops’ 1.41 million sales.
In terms of revenue, the game has made Rockstar over £65m, but spent a staggering £170m developing the game. It’s fair to say that GTA V will lead the games charts for several weeks to some and earn Rockstar well over a billion in revenue from worldwide sales. It will be interesting to see how many units the game has managed to sell in other territories.
