Gaikai Will Give Gamers Access to Catalogue of “Critically Acclaimed” PS3 Games

Sony’s cloud gaming strategy was revealed at E3, which will game use of Gaikai’s streaming technology to give PS4, PS3 and PS Vita gamers access to library of PS3 games. However, it’s been clarified that only “critically acclaimed” games will be available via the service. The latest video from the PlayStation Access team also reveals that the service will later be expanded to include more legacy PlayStation titles.

The Gaikai streaming service will launch in the US in 2014, with the European launch date still unknown. Hopefully, we’ll hear more about the service in Europe at Gamescom next month. The video from PlayStation Access shows clips of Uncharted, Journey and The Last of Us, suggesting the potential titles that will be available to stream.

Overtime, we hope that the entire PS3 library will be made available, which would make those disappointed by the lack of backwards compatibility a little bit happier. The details around Gaikai are still a mystery, but hopefully all will be clarified shortly.
