PSP Firmware 2.82

October 26th, 2006 / XTREME PSP / News
6

Sony today released a minor update to the PSP Firmware addressing security vunerabilities in the system software. Not exactly the update we were hoping for but I guess Sony is more interested in stopping homebrew users from running unsigned code on the system. No new features have been added to the update, but it does contain all the features of previous updates. Please be warned that updating will stop any homebrew applications from running on your PSP using any known exploits.

You can update your PSP (if you are interested) using the usual methods including the Network Update or via the Regional PlayStation Websites (give them some time to update the update pages).

Can’t wait until Firmware 3.00. The PSOne emulator is going to be awesome! FFVII – here I come (again!).

A lot of people will loose homebrew to 3.00, unless someone from the Homebrew community can beat Sony and release a fully working PS1 emu.

When the next firmware comes out I hope Sony sticks to what it has said and gives us the emulator, and after the games are out I hope someone from the homebrew community cracks it.

Yes! This is so freaking awesome! The only reason Sony makes a .1/.2 that “Strengthens Security” is that someone has found a exploit and i have checked every PSP website I know…no exploit which means sony found one themselves and it will only be a little while before we find it! Im sticking with my 2.81

Its been confirmed that GTA: Vice City will need 2.81 in order to work. Either someone find the 2.81 exploit or update devhook so we can emulate 2.81/2.82!
