In Sony’s E3 2010 Press Conference, Jack Tretton revealed that the PlayStation Network has more than 50 million registered accounts, the highest of the three major consoles. The PlayStation Network was launched in 2006 and registrations have continued to grow rapidly. This confirms a study earlier this year stating that the PS3 has the highest percentage of connected consoles.

GTA IV Passes 17 Million Sales Mark

Grand Theft IV has been out for a good year and a half now and yet the title continues to sell well. To date, the title has sold more than 17 million units world wide on all platforms combined. Take-Two revealed the sales figure in thei Q2 earnings report earlier this week.
Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Pack Breaks PSN Records

The Modern Warfare 2 Stimulus Pack has not only broken records on Xbox Live, it has also broken PlayStation Network records. According to Robert Bowling, over 1 million people purchased and downloaded the Stimulus Pack breaking both the “day 1” and “week 1” sales records on the PlayStation Network.
PlayStation 3 Hardware Sells 35 Million Units

Sales of the PlayStation 3 edges closer to the Xbox 360. A spokesperson has confirmed to IGN that Sony sold has sold 35.7 million units worldwide as of March 2010. The 2009 fiscal results from Sony also revealed that 13 million PS3 consoles were sold for the year. In comparison, the Xbox 360 has sold 40.2 million units world wide narrowing the gap to just 4.5 million units.
LittleBigPlanet Has Sold Over 3 Million Units

It’s clear that LittleBigPlanet has been a success for both Sony and Media Molecule. Sony not only announced the sequel earlier this week, they also revealed that LittleBigPlanet has sold over three million units – not a bad start for Media Molecule’s first PS3 title. In addition to selling 3 million units, over 2 million levels have also been created.
Super Street Fighter IV Tops 1 Million Mark

Capcom has announced, in a press release, that Super Street Fighter IV has broken the 1 million mark worldwide. The game which was released on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America as Asia on April 27th and was just released in Europe yesterday. The press release indicated that 1 million units were shipped worldwide, but the title has not yet sold 1 million units.
God of War 3 Tops 2 Million In Sales

According to the latest sales data from VGChartz, God of War 3 has already sold over 2 million copies in five weeks since release. God of War III joins the other PlayStation 3 exclusives to break the 2 million mark, including Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet and Resistance. In addition, SOCOM: Confrontation has finally broken the 1 million mark.
PlayStation 3 Tops 5 Million Units In Japan

Enterbrain have revealed that the PS3 has now sold over 5 million units in Japan since it was first launched back in November 11th 2006. Sales up to April 11th 2010 put the exact number at 5,001,598 units in the region. Enterbrain also listed the top selling games for the PS3 and unsurprisingly, Final Fantasy XIII has sold the most copies.
Heavy Rain Officially Surpasses the Million Mark

A few weeks ago we reported that Heavy Rain surpassed the million units sold mark. Sony has now officially confirmed that the title has indeed crossed the mark in just five weeks after release. “It has been hugely gratifying to see the positive response that Heavy Rain has received from gamers” says David Cage, the Writer and Director of Heavy Rain and CEO of Quantic Dream.
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack in Time Closing In On 1 Million Mark

The latest iteration of Insomniac Games’ Ratchet & Clank, A Crack In Time, is closing in on the one million units sold mark. The game was released back in October 2009, but has taken some time to reach this milestone. Hitting the million mark means all the major Ratchet & Clank games have sold over a million since the franchise first debuted in 2002.
