The PlayStation Move is out to own later this week, and Sony have released some new TV adverts to promote the new controller. The new adverts were shown off over the weekend in the UK during Big Brother and in the Everton v Manchester United football game.
You may have seen the “It Only Does Everything” PS3 advert on TV or on the Internet on more than one occasion. Speaking at the MI6 marketing conference in San Francisco last week, Peter Dille, SCEA’s head of marketing, said the company’s ‘It Only Does Everything’ PlayStation 3 advertisement campaign is working increasing sales for the console by 184 percent in the three months following the price cut.

The PlayStation Move has been slated for a Fall 2010 release and the first advert has been released to spread the word. The first advert (which you can see below) makes fun of the Nintendo Wiimote for having basic motion sensing capabilities and also Microsoft’s Natal for lack of buttons. In Kevin Butler’s own words, “Who wants to pretend their hand is a gun? What is this? 3rd grade?”
We hope you are eagerly awaiting the release of Heavy Rain this week (in Europe) like we are. The game is starting to hit shelves across Europe from tomorrow and the TV campaign to promote the game is also about to go live. We have a sneak peek of the advert for you to view below, courtesy of SCEE.
Over the next 10 weeks, games in the UK will be bombarded with advertising for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. Sony will be sponsoring some great TV, which will feature ‘Uncharted 2: Among Thieves’ branding and footage on all Sky One & Two Movies, including Mission Impossible 2, Hunt for Red October and Beverly Hills Cop. Along with this sponsorship, the TV ad will also be running, including great spots in both the England World Cup Qualifier against Belarus on the Oct 14th and the UEFA Champions League match between Chelsea and Athletico Madrid the following week.
Most games these days are multi-platform, and you may be wondering if Gran Turismo will ever be available on the Nintendo DS or even the iPhone. According to Sony, Gran Turismo is only possible on the PSP and PlayStation 3. While there hasn’t been an official comment from the developers, the latest Gran Turismo advert (see below) clearly states it’s “only possible on the PSP and PSPgo.”
The new PSP is nearly here! Have you pre-ordered one for yourself yet? As most of you already know, the PSPgo is the smallest and mightiest PSP system yet and features 16GB of internal memory, as well as expandable storage to handle multiple applications – games, videos, photos, music, Internet and more. There is also no UMD drive so you won’t have to carry those pesky discs around anymore.
Gran Turismo for the PSP launches this Thursday, after years of waiting. Stephanie Toshimoto, over on the PlayStation.Blog, has posted the TV ad campaign for everyone to view (see below). The advert centers around the Corvette ZR1 vs. PSP racing against each other on Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, CA. Earlier this month we reported on 3D support coming to the PlayStation 3 in 2010 along with Sony’s new 3D range of Bravia TVs. Sony has now created a commercial showing off what’s to come in 2010. The commercial shows WipEout HD playing in 3D, though the actors are wearing 3D glasses. Our earlier report stated that the new Bravia TVs would be autostereoscopic, for which you do not need 3D glasses.
Earlier this week we featured an article with some Japanese adverts for the PS3 Slim. Today, SCEA unveiled some more adverts targeted at the US market. The new ad campaign uses the tagline “It Only Does Everything” and we have two of the adverts to show you below. The new adverts launch on 1st September, when the PS3 Slim hits stores in Europe and North America.
