Sony has announced price increases for the current-gen PlayStation consoles due to economic challenges. The new prices take effect from 2nd April 2026, and makes this the third price increase in recent years.
Sony states that the decision to increase the price of the consoles comes from continued pressures in the global economic landscape. The recent RAM and storage shortages have played a part, but the US-Israel war with Iran has further affected things.
“With continued pressures in the global economic landscape, we’ve made the decision to increase the prices of PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote player globally. We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide.”
